Conference on Disaster Mitigation of Cultural Heritage and Historic Cities '10

July 3 (Sat.) 2010
at Igakukan, Ritsumeikan Univ., Kyoto, JAPAN

We are pleased to announce that the Conference on Disaster Mitigation of Cultural Heritage and Historic Cities '10 will be held on July 3 (Sat.), 2010, in Kyoto, Japan. The role of cultural heritage is immeasurably important in human lives and societies. However, invaluable treasures have been damaged or lost due to natural disasters such as earthquakes and associated fires, floods, ground deformations, etc. Unhappily, there are very few studies and countermeasures focused on disaster prevention for historical cities, although scientists and engineers have systematically developed tools to preserve lives, cities, buildings and individual facilities from often inevitable natural, hazardous phenomena.

The purpose of the conference is to bring together the recent activities and results relevant to the urban cultural heritage disaster mitigation, and discuss the future cooperations among the researchers. The peer reviewed papers will be presented at the conference. This is the capstone activity of our project.

  1. Important dates:
Draft paper submission    April 30 (Fri.)
Final paper submission    June 4 (Fri.)

  2. Call for Papers:
You are invited to submit papers for peer review to be presented at the conference. Authors are required to submit the PDF file of the full paper (4-8 pages) until April 30 (Fri.) using the template shown below. Submitted papers are then sent to two reviewers. The reviewers give a recommendation to accept, accept with revisions, or reject. Based on the reviews, the editor notifies the author of acceptance or rejection and forwards to the author the anonymous comments of the reviewers. Authors of accepted papers incorporate changes suggested by the reviewers and return the manuscript to the editor by June 4(Fri.).
